Troy, the senior chihuahua

The picture on the left was taken today, as I was writing, as usual he wanted to be near me. The pic on the right was taken a couple of years ago with Britney, his mom. Troy is a senior chihuahua, 11 years old, son of Beni and Britney, both has crossed the rainbow bridge already.

I am hoping Troy could make it as he has been sick for quite some time but the last few days was worse. Everybody keep telling me to let go, but I feel like he still has some will to get better.

Chihuahuas are prone to dental problems like tooth decay, tooth toss and gum disease. Some studies suggest that as many as 9 out of 10 Chihuahuas will experience dental problems. Allowing your Chihuahua to suffer from poor oral health can reduce their lifespan. Bacteria enters the bloodstream through bleeding gums (caused by gingivitis) and goes straight to the heart and kidneys (quoted from this article). So it started with his gum which was inflamed, the vet cleaned his teeth and gum but unfurtonately I registered it quite late, after it was swollen, so his gum was quite swollen from the inflammation. And it spread real quick to his eyes. So now we wait and hoping for the best. He got his painkiller injection and could finally sleep. Today he started to eat a little bit. So am optimistic today.

Get well soon Troy.
