Hime’s Journey: From Sick Stray Rottweiler to Healthy Foster Fail

This is Hime, another foster fail 🫣 (Yes, my pack is now made up entirely of foster fails!). Hime is a female Rottweiler, approximately 8–9 years old, who was found at a school near my house. At this point, I’m convinced that people are intentionally leaving their dogs near me, knowing I can’t resist picking them up 🥹.

Hime’s Rescue Story

In Hime’s case, the school called the fire department to catch her. The fire department then reached out to @rrdcjogja (a local rescue shelter) who quickly contacted me since I live nearby. I headed there on foot with a leash, and after Victor kindly lured her with some food, I was able to bring her home on the leash.

Hime was in bad shape—thin, sick, and covered with tumors. She needed immediate medical attention.

Her Recovery Journey

Hime underwent two major operations to remove the tumors, and it was a long journey of recovery. Six months later, look at her now! She’s healthy, full of energy, and absolutely beautiful. Her personality has really started to show as well.

Personality and Behavior

Hime is a very protective dog, especially around strangers, but once she warms up, she can be quite affectionate—though she’s still selective about who she trusts. She’s particularly wary of men, but surprisingly, she gets along well with other dogs and even my cats. I can’t say for sure how she’d react to stray cats, but so far, she’s been great with the ones she’s met.

I’ve given her the task of guarding our house, which she takes very seriously! She patrols the front porch, barks at anyone who passes by, and sleeps right in front of the door, keeping us safe.

Oh, and while she’s thriving now, she’s not sterilized yet—something I’am still working on.

Hime is technically still open for adoption, but so far, I haven’t found anyone who wants to take her in. So for now, it seems she’s staying here with me 😁.
